John Toomey is the Global Chair of the Workplace Wellbeing Institute as part of the Global Wellness Institute. John was formally educated in Physical Education, has been a leader in the Workplace Wellbeing space for decades. His first workplace seminar was 1983, and since has delivered over 300 presentations to diverse workforces across the globe. During the 80’s and 90’s he took several sideways steps, serving 7 AFL Clubs in High Performance roles, and studying new areas of Wellness he discovered through Yoga and other Easter Philosophies. He explored many paths, always seeking a deeper understanding of life and the things that support human beings to thrive, be well and find happiness. He has written over 500 thought provoking articles and has been published widely in The Huffington Post, Melbourne Newspapers, Thrive Global and Chopra Global. Little did he know that stress, anxiety and depression would accumulate leading to a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and subsequently a suicide attempt. Thankfully Ivan survived and began to get to know himself again and reclaim his life through heart based meditation. For a 30 year old Lachie Samuel has lived an interesting life. A young man raised in New Zealand Lachie experienced some significant childhood traumas which inevitably led to poor lifestyle behaviours. Thinking money would fix things Lachie began mining work only to realise that he felt empty inside and his behaviours weren’t changing. Lachie is now doing some amazing things to help support and educate FIFO workers and organisations to be more self aware around the traps that go with working away from home and how to be more conscious inside and outside of the workplace.
